In the sculpture garden at The Ebenezer Chapel ...

There is one point, one pivotal moment in life when something special begins, a moment when a spark is struck and a flame slowly begins to burn. Such was my introduction to sculpture by Don Green, Head of Art at my old school in Northumberland. It was he who encouraged me, at the age of fourteen, to sculpt in clay and who nurtured my excitement and interest in 3-dimensional art.
Having been born and raised in rural Somerest, I returned to the west country to study at Salisbury College of Art, but this was of course just the beginning. A true artist never stops learning and over the years I have found that I always need to push beyond the confines of my own boundaries in search of new challenges to feed my creative spirit and enhance my work. This has given me the wonderful ability to be able to work comfortably in both figurative and abstract. In fact, it goes deeper than that. My belief and understanding of the purpose of art requires me to be competent in both disciplines and to enjoy the demands and challenges that each has to offer, and, just as with working in different materials, a step in one discipline takes me forward in both.
A selection of my work, both past and present, is here for you to see and enjoy. Please contact me if you would like to discuss buying or commissioning a sculpture.
